Format/Rules:
|
- All race walking events will be conducted in accordance with USA Track & Field (USATF)
rules. For a copy of these rules, contact: USA Track and Field, One RCA Dome,
Suite 140, Indianapolis, IN 46225; 317-261-0500;
www.usatf.org
- Athletes must use proper race walking techniques or risk disqualification.
- As an alternative to the 5K Race Walk event which
requires proper race walking techniques, the 5K Road Race
allows athletes to walk the 5K course.
- Athletes must not wear clothing that could impede the view of the judge(s).
Shorts or pants fitting tightly at the knees are required.
- Certified race walking judge(s) will be used for both events.
- The judge(s) shall have the sole authority to judge the race walking events
and their ruling shall be final and without appeal. Any competitor who
receives three warnings (of rule violations) shall be disqualified and so
informed.
- All participants should arrive at least 30 minutes before the events begin
to pick up their numbers and hear a review of rules by the primary judge.

PLEASE NOTE: The Puget Sound Senior Games Association encourages everyone
to walk for fitness and enjoyment. However, the technical race walking events are for athletes who have received
formal race walking instruction only. Use of proper form and technique is
required and rules will be strictly enforced.

commissioner at the number above.
